Just Some Fall Things

Fall is a season of change, but it's also got some really awesome constants!

Here's a small list of some of my favorite things about fall!

1. The Colors!

I'm from New Hampshire and I have to say, we have the best fall foliage around! Especially this year, there were so many vibrant colors, like oranges and yellows and reds.

2. Sweater Season!

I don't know about you, but my closet is stocked full of sweaters and sweatshirts and long sleeve shirts. So when I get to be cozy all the time and wear my sweaters I get very happy :)

3. Hot Drinks!

Ask my friends and they'll tell you I get warm drinks all the time even when it's still warm out. But when the cold weather begins, I hit up Dunks a lot more for their hot chocolate (and trust me when I say Oreo hot chocolate is 100% my new favorite thing).

4. Blankets!

Along the same lines as why I love sweaters so much, blankets let me feel cozy and comfy which is really great. And when it's so cold outside, it's all the more of a reason to stay inside and cuddle up with a hot drink and a movie.

5. Apples!

Fall is also known as the season of apple picking and all things apple. There's fresh, crisp apples to pick from trees, and apple cider for sale in grocery stores. And one of my favorite things of all time often gets paired with apples: cinnamon. So there's apple fritters and the smell of my mom's delicious apple pie baking in the oven.

Fall is really a great season of family and friends and snuggling and cozy warmth! It's also a very symbolic season of change, and fittingly, it's the season when the most things are dynamic for me. It's a season for me to embrace the changes, and when I can't, I've got friends and warm blankets and hot tea and Netflix to get me through!

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
