Can Everyone Just Let Post Malone Be?

Leave him Post ALONE.

Anyone who has ever met me knows that I'm a pretty big fan of Post Malone, meaning I am actually completely obsessed with him. I think he's totally cute (shocking, I know) and I can never get enough of his music. No, seriously, I haven't listened to anything but Post Malone since Beerbongs and Bentleys came out. It's a little ridiculous, I know.

The thing is, I know SO many people that are fans of Post Malone, but yet I still seem to hear so much hate about him on a constant basis. People on the internet, especially, can't seem to stop bagging on him for his hair, or his tattoos, or the way he must (SUPPOSEDLY) smell. Honestly, I'm pretty tired of it.

Clearly, and quite unfortunately, I don't know him personally, but then again neither do any of the people who are constantly giving him shit for things that have literally zero percent to do with him as a musical artist.

First of all, and this is true about anyone celebrity or not, but before you start to bash him on the internet, maybe think about the fact that he is a real human being. A lot of people seem to forget that celebrities really are people and can see the rude things people write about them on the internet. I'm, of course, an avid follower of his on Twitter, and when I see him tweet regarding the hate he sees all the time, it breaks my heart.

People love to make fun of the way he looks, and love, even more, to correlate that to the way he must smell, regardless of the fact they haven't even ever been within 200 feet of him. Someone went as far to make up a news story about making a fan vomit from his stench. That's literally so ridiculous. Let's just get something straight: just because someone has frizzy hair and tattoos does not mean they don't shower and that they stink. I don't even know where this weird fascination with his smell even came from. Don't people have anything better to do?

Let's not forget about his recent haircut. I was a big fan of his frizzy little man bun. I thought he wore it well and it was something not a lot of people could pull off. As usual, I heard a lot of backlash about how bad his hair was, and how it probably added to his completely horrible smell. So, he cuts his hair off, and people still can't be satisfied. All of a sudden his hair is too curly, and looks stupid, and doesn't suit him.

Moral of the story: people love to hate on people they don't know. Luckily, Post Malone seems to be handling it well.

Be nice to each other; mental health is important for celebrities too.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
