I Knew...

Your love is the best I've ever known.

I Knew...

I knew.

When we were sitting in your car after it broke down at the gas station. And I could still make you laugh even though your face had become as dark as the sky that night when we thought it was about to pour.

I knew.

When you introduced me to the people in your life and I watched you beam with pride when you realized how much they liked me.

I knew.

Every time you asked me to let you know I got home safe, and when you actually checked to make sure I did if I didn’t call.

I knew.

When you told me that your mom really likes me and I could read your exuberance even through a text message.

I knew.

When you talked about the future without hesitation. When you playfully warned me not to pick anywhere too hot to move to, because you melt in anything above 60 degrees.

I knew.

When you kissed me goodbye and held open my car door. Every single time.

I knew.

When you expressed to me how much your dog likes me. Knowing that his approval meant more to me than most humans.

I knew.

Every time you asked me if I was okay. Whether it was because you thought I just looked cold, or that I didn’t quite sound like myself.

I knew.

With every kiss and cuddle that I wanted just one more of or just five more minutes, that you conceded to without hesitation.

I knew.

When we could easily jump from discussions about people, places, politics, music, and the things that ignited passion within us in the same conversation.

I knew.

By how much it meant for you that my family adores you and how happy you were to see me adore yours as well.

I knew.

By the way we just fit together like puzzle pieces in all the empty spaces of our lives.

I knew.

The first time I realized being with you felt like coming home after the longest, hardest day and the sight of you eased every bit of tension I didn't know I was carrying.

I knew.

When you told me I was your best friend and I realized that meant so much more to me than any other title.

I knew.

Before you even said it, before I even thought I wanted to say it myself. I just knew.

I knew that I was going to love you. I knew that you were going to love me too. I knew that we were both a little scared. It had been years that either of us had said those words to another person. Get your heart ripped out of your chest by one person once who you thought never would and you’ll understand how hard it is to love again. But I am so thankful you took the leap with me. I’m thankful that you chose me, without hesitation. Without much thought. I'm so glad you choose to love me still each and every day and that I choose to do the same. I knew I would love you then, and I know that I love you now.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
