Just In Case You Need To Be Reminded: You're Worthy

Just In Case You Need To Be Reminded: You're Worthy

Each day, we are exposed to various images of perfect bodies, perfect skin, and perfect lives. It’s not uncommon for those lifestyles to be coveted by many. While seemingly harmless, those images often manifest negative thoughts on self-image and self-worth. It’s very imperative that everyone—young, old, black, or white—is constantly reminded that they are worthy. So, here are six quotes to serve as your daily reminder that you are worth more than gold:

“Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.” –Marilyn Monroe

We are given one life to live on this Earth and it would be a shame to waste it wishing you were someone else. Each of us was created to be who we are. There is no other person like us and that is beautiful enough.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection” –Siddhārtha Gautama

I feel as though at some point we are all guilty of this. We give out all of our love without saving a little for ourselves. Keep in mind that the act of loving others and loving yourself do not have to be mutually exclusive.

“The worst loneliness is to not be comfortable with yourself.” –Mark Twain

When you are comfortable in your own skin, you will always have a companion. It’s more than okay to be your own best friend.

“Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.” –Malcolm S. Forbes

Whenever I get into a low point, I force myself to sit down and think of everything in my life that makes me happy. Write it down in a list, type it on your phone, or say it aloud. Nonetheless, it’s crucial to focus on the positive, because when you do, you’ll see that it usually outweighs the negative. Remember, a bad day does not equal a bad life.

“Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the face.” –Helen Keller

Enough said. A confident person cannot be defeated.

“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance” –Oscar Wilde

Be in love with yourself. Embrace yourself. There’s nothing weird about it, trust me. Truly caring for yourself radiates an enormous sense of empowerment and, well, love.

Each and every day, take the steps necessary to remind yourself just how important and worthy you are. It pays off in the end. I promise.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
