With the recent report that Universal wants Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to star as the Wolfman in their monster shared universe, The Rock appears to be more booked than a library. Currently, he has four movies yet to premiere in theaters and at least 10 other films that he’s attached to. If every movie was at least two hours, the combined total runtime would equate to an entire day’s worth of pure enter-dwayne-ment, full of thrilling Rock-tion and Johnson and Johnson family fun. To mentally prepare you for watching a future Rock-a-thon, to be played, of course, during the inevitable Rocktoberfest, here is a list of all of The Rock’s future films…so far.
If you ever thought The Rock was more than a mortal man, a Rock god perhaps, then prepare to have your beliefs at least halfway affirmed with Moana. Opening November 23, the Disney animated film features the actor voicing a demi-god named Maui who will help the main protagonist Moana on her journey to find a fabled island.
Fast 8
Perhaps The Rock’s best work as “franchise Viagra,” the Fast and Furious series continues to rock on with its eighth installment. Vin Diesel recently confirmed plans for the franchise to be 10 films long, however, The Rock has only been officially cast for Fast 8. Premiering April 14, 2017, the film could be the end of a four film long e-Rock-tion.
Baywatch
Returning to the beach, The Rock stars as Mitch Buchanan in his latest remake, Baywatch. Featuring a rock solid cast, including The Rock, the film will most likely have a hard-R rating due to its language and humor. Be on the watch for The Rock rolling into theaters in Baywatch May 19, 2017.
Jumanji
Announced via Instagram, The Rock hopes you like his latest role in the Jumanji remake. So far The Rock’s Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart and School of Rock actor Jack Black have also been cast. Jumanji is set to play in theaters July 28, 2017.
San Andreas 2
After the box office success of the original, a sequel to San Andreas is in pre-production with the returning cast and director. According to speculation, the sequel will have The Rock face the Ring of Fire. In the ultimate fight against himself, expect a big blowout between The Rock and volcanic rock. If you lava Rock, this film is a must-see.
Doc Savage
If you liked The Nice Guys but thought that it was a little too nice and needed more Rock, then watch director Shane Black turn The Rock savage in Doc Savage. Considering the character is also known as The Man of Bronze, this might be the most obvious casting choice for The Rock until he’s eventually cast in a remake of Camp Rock, Fraggle Rock or 30 Rock.
Rampage
Sasquatch, Godzilla, Jay Z, The Rock. Question: What do these things all have in common? Everybody knows The Rock is a motherfucking monster. Whether he’ll be an actual monster or just a monster of a man, The Rock will definitely be a monster on screen in this film adaptation of a videogame.
Shazam!
After already been The Hero, The Rock now seeks to be the villain in DC’s Shazam! Initially, The Rock had the option of playing the Shazam, but instead recently announced he will play the villain Black Adam. The film is scheduled to be released in 2019 but The Rock has suggested that the film may arrive much earlier.
The Janson Directive
Produced by Universal Studios Pictures, the film is intended to be part of a larger franchise based on Robert Ludlum’s work of thriller novels. The Rock will play an ex-Navy SEAL who gets caught in a government conspiracy. If this first film succeeds, The Rock will have more franchises than fingers on his hands.
Journey to Center of the Earth 3 & 4
If you have ever wondered what is at the center of the Earth, it is The Rock. If you’re still not satisfied with that answer, then Warner Bros. has got you covered with two more Journey films which will prove that I am right.
Jungle Cruise
Since Tom Cruise was unavailable, The Rock will play the lead in Disney’s Jungle Cruise. The film is based classic ride from Disneyland which transports riders through various African settings. Hopefully, The Rock encounters a crocodile in his travels through the rocky waters of the Nile and the two sing a lively rendition of Crocodile Rock.
Skyscraper
If he wasn’t already a rock star, The Rock is now starring in Legendary Entertainment’s Skyscraper. The film is described as an action adventure thriller set in a skyscraper in China. So basically, Die Hard but with The Rock’s rock hard abs.
Big Trouble in Little China
If you still need more Rock in China after Skyscraper, get ready for The Rock in Little China. Even though he has nothing but love and respect for the original, The Rock still wants a remake because nothing makes The Rock harder than remakes.
The Wolfman
Hoping to add yet another franchise to The Rock, Universal wants the actor in their future shared monster universe. However, instead of playing the rock monster, the studio wants him to play the Wolfman. The Rock has yet to agree to the casting but considering how empty his current schedule is, he probably will soon enough.
