A cheesy pun to start. But really, I want to talk about something with a fall vibe today.
Fall is a time when things can get a little crazy. Personally, while I am at school, there would be weeks when all the exams are scheduled back to back, applications are due, events are going on and everything seems to be very out of control. After long hours of dragging on and pulling through each tasks, my body can get very weary and ready to give up and not face any of this again.
At this point, it feels like I have been stuck on campus forever…
Well, I did something last year that was slightly better than a long walk and can serve to heal and refresh for a long time. My parents decided to come get me from school, and we drove for about an hour north to Mohawk Trail, Gill, MA. We toured around the area by car and made stops along the way so we can actually enjoy the nature. I vividly remember encountering multiple parts of the Connecticut River that runs through the area because we could hear the gushing of waters echoing within the mountains. Finally, after a couple of stops, we found a brook that was safe to climb down to. I made my way through the rocky terrain and just sat by the brook, letting the loud sound of it take over my thoughts and worries. I loved that each time when water rushed through a certain rock, a particular beat was made, making it seemed like a percussion performance was happening. It was so lively, refreshing and just what my heart longed for.
This half-day trip was simple and short, but it was really meaningful to me because of the way it helped me refocus my attitude for life as a student.
