Just Falling For Fall

This Thursday, September 22 starts the beginning of the best season of the year, Fall. From the beginning of football season in early September to the delicious feast on Thanksgiving, there's so many great ways to enjoy the season.

Fall is the season of Football.

No matter how old you are, football season will never get old. What can I say? It's an American classic. Going to the games, dressing up in your team's colors and losing your voice cheering them on in the stands; football games are a blast. Whether you understand the game or not, there's plenty for you to enjoy during football season. If you're in college, one of the best things about football season are the tailgates. Heading out to your favorite frats or crowding around the stadium decked out in your school colors and t-shirts you spent all night cutting yourself. There's nothing better than getting hyped up with you school before a big game. After tailgates, everyone mobs to the stadium, getting there hours early to get the best seats for the game, not that you'll be sitting much. Once the ball is kicked, you'll be on your feet cheering on the team and jumping around until the clock hits 0:00 and the game is over. Football season brings everyone together and fall wouldn't be the same without it.

Pumpkin Patches and Hayrides.

With the weather starting to cool down, the days begin to pass and soon enough it's October, a month dedicated to going to pumpkin patches and picking out the best pumpkin for your Jack O' Lantern. You can spend all day at a local pumpkin patch going on hayrides, getting lost in the corn maze, and taking a sip of that warm apple cider. Nothing screams fall more than spending a day at the pumpkin patch with family and friends, taking cute pictures in your new fall clothes, and jumping into a pile of leaves on a cool fall day.

One Word: HALLOWEEN!

Who doesn't love Halloween? Free candy, getting to dress up as whoever you want and let's not forget about the Haunted Houses! There's something so fun about getting the shit scared out of you. Walking through the dark hallways with your friends, grabbing a hold of each other trying to protect yourselves, and then walking around the corner only to see a headless body and a man standing near it wearing a mask. Halloween is a time to get scared, eat all your favorite candy ("Give me all your Reese's please!") and spend the night dressed up in your favorite costume. Whether it's an M&M, Batman, or a classic witch, there's so many possibilities for costumes, you can never go wrong. It's a night to put on a mask, go out, and be anyone you want.

Hocus Pocus, Scented Candles and Cozy Sweaters.

Nothing says fall more than lighting your Leaves Bath and Body Works candle, snuggling at home in your large cozy sweater and watching your favorite Halloween Disney movies. There's so many great picks, from Hocus Pocus to Halloween Town (1-3)to Twitches (1& 2), and many more. Enjoying fall doesn't mean you have to go out. With the temperatures dropping and the nights getting cooler, sometimes all you need is a mug of hot chocolate, your biggest cozy sweater, a yummy smelling candle and your favorite fall flick.

'Tis the Season of Eating.

Near the end of fall, as the season comes to a close, there's no better way to end a perfect season than a great Thanksgiving feast. A table loaded up with roasted turkey, mashed potatoes (and of course gravy!), green beans, stuffing, cranberries, and we can't forget the pie! Pumpkin, apple, so many delicious options. Of course spending time with family and friends and being thankful for your blessings is important too. So as the season comes to an end, put on your stretchy pants and dig in!

Crisp air, pretty leaves, sweaters & boots, football, pumpkins and coffee, what's there not to love about Fall?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
