"When the stress is on the rise in my heart I feel You say... just breathe, just breathe. Come and rest at My feet. And be, just be. Chaos calls but all you really need is to just breathe." --Jonny Diaz
I heard this song on the radio, and shivers ran down my body. I just knew that God wanted me to hear these words. In the midst of finals, I am one of the most stressed out people in the world, and I needed to be reminded to just breathe. To take a breath and remember who is in control. When I am all mixed up, thinking about myself, thinking about all of the things that I have to do for the next test, or thinking about what my future holds, I forget that the God of the universe is in complete control.
I need to just breathe and relax, knowing that nothing in this life is unplanned or unknown. God knows exactly what is happening and what will happen, and He has already been there. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" God has huge plans for us, and we just need to seek Him with all our hearts to follow His wonderful plan.
Deuteronomy 31:8 says, "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." God is already at tomorrow's test, He has already been to your wedding, and He has already been to the moment you need Him the most. He knows exactly what is going to happen in our lives. He is already there, to walk by your side. Doesn't that give you peace? Unlike some people in this world, God will never leave us. We do not need to be afraid. He is right here, with us, in this moment. We do not need to be discouraged or worry because God is in control. Bad things may happen in our lives, but no matter what, we have the Lord standing by us.
I get the privilege to go and rest at His feet. I am so blessed to be able to lay my burdens cares at the foot of the cross and let Jesus take complete control. Matthew 11:28 says, "'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.'" When we bring our worries and burdens to the Lord, He will give us rest. This is such a relief to hear, that we do not ever have to carry the weight of worry and burdens alone. He will give us rest and peace. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Don't you want that peace from God that is greater than anything you could ever understand?
I need to just be in this moment, and I need to be thankful for it all. I am so grateful for every single thing in my life. I am blessed more than I could ever imagine.
