Just Ask

The peace and guidance everyone searches for isn't far away at all.

Just Ask

At certain moments in every person’s life, especially college students, hard decisions have to be made and often you don’t feel like you have any idea where your life is going. Without a compass, it is so easy to get incredibly lost in things and ways of life that don’t matter, that aren’t God’s plan for you, and it’s incredibly confusing because you can’t see the big picture, the end game. This causes worry every time, and feels like a heavy weight on your shoulders that you don’t know how to shrug off.

Worry is a natural response to obstacles or issues that weigh down on you, but God tells us not to worry, and to trust that He knows exactly where He will take you and that it will be wonderful.

He is a sweet, loving Father, and the plans He makes are perfect. Our end of the bargain is to trust in Him. He wants us to trust Him enough that we don’t ever need to worry. What does He say about worry?

Phillipians 4:6-7 says “Do not be anxious (do not worry, do not be impatient) about anything, but in everything (every daily activity, even the small things), by prayer and supplication (humble request) with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (AMP).

Give your worries to the Lord and trust that His plan is perfect. Trust Him in everything. Nothing is too big for the Lord, even if it seems too big for you, I promise its not.

If the Lord can give sight to the blind and life to the dead, he can most certainly show you which grad school is the right fit, or help you to have patience and grace with an aggravating classmate, or give you strength to finish those final papers that seem to never end.

Listen to Jeremiah 29:11, which says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

The Lord will give you the wisdom you need to succeed in His plans for you if you ask Him. He wants you to succeed! He always wants to help you, if you will only listen and trust in Him. Psalm 119:105 reads “Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” If you listen and trust in His words here, He will guide your path, through the Bible and the Holy Spirit.

If you don’t know which way to turn, ask the Lord, as in James 1:5, which says “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Trust me, listening to and following the Lord’s guidance results in joy, peace, and a successful life. Trying to go it alone will only result in wrong turns and heartache. It is so easy to gain his peace and wisdom, many people do not understand that it doesn’t take a saint to gain the Lord’s wisdom. If you ask He will give it every time, and He will give it generously, no matter who you are, as long as you trust in Him.

Sometimes the Lord’s plan for you is not the plan that you thought, and you have to learn that His ways are better, even if that means giving up the plans you had your heart set on. It may hurt for a moment, but His plans will always be better, and He is a loving God whose plans are tailor-made to suit each person. Trust that he knows what He is doing. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
