Last week I went to the theater and saw the second Jurassic World. Now, let me start by saying that I'm a HUGE Jurassic Park fan, so going into this movie I had fairly high hopes considering how successful the first one did as well.
Getting there, I, of course, had to get an Icee and a big bucket of popcorn to start. Once my family and I made it to our seats, the lights darkened and the movie began. I was incredibly excited, so as I said before I had very high hopes and I personally believe it delivered. As I'm not very good at quick summaries, I'll post a quote from Rotten Tomatoes below:
"It's been three years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who's still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times."
Through the movie, we have the drama of Owen and Claire of course and their tension-filled romance. They are brought together again by a chance to save some of the Dinosaurs on the island from a massive volcano. There is definitely a lot of wit throughout the movie which I enjoyed, but incredibly dark moments as well. People are hurt, attacked, and there are even more intense Dinosaurs than before.
My favorite part of the entire movie is how they deal with the welfare of the Dinosaurs. It actually coincides with the issues these days of animals being treated like property. They're sold and slaughtered for more money, and along the way, they're treated like they are nothing. In the movie, people were fighting and protesting, saying that the Dinosaurs deserve to live because they're living creatures. It's so amazing to see that represented in a movie.
Another part I loved was near the ending. I won't give it away because it's a huge plot twist and I'll probably be yelled at for giving away the spoiler, but things like that are currently happening as well and it should be medically impossible but technology has come a long way. And as they show in the movie, technology can either help the world or completely destroy it.
Now, if you haven't seen this movie yet I completely suggest that you go. It's incredible to see on such a big screen, and you won't regret it!
