"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" recently hit the screens. With the return of this long-awaited installment in the Jurassic Park/ World series, I began wondering, why are people still obsessed with dinosaurs. In such an instant, short cycle world, how do people still get excited when an another Jurassic Park/World movie releases.
1. The Jurassic Park/World movies are nostalgic
For many people, the Jurassic franchise that began with its first installment, "Jurassic Park" in 1993, is full of nostalgia. And That's why the new installments ("Jurassic World") are also doing well. They offer a new twist to the old classics.
2. Dinosaurs are a mystery
The selling point for "Jurassic Park" is unquestionably the dinosaurs. Dinosaurs coming to life on the big screen? Sign me up. I didn't even have to read the plot description for "Jurassic World" to know that I wanted to see it. The main feature that drew most people to the first installment in 1993 is still the same thing that keeps people interested nowadays. It's a thrill to see animators and prop designers bring these mysterious, prehistorical creatures come to life. So much so, that the inconsistencies don't even matter to most people. It's just the chance to see what you have never seen in your life. So I guess you may say that we are all a little bit like Ross Gellar in some way, at least in terms of the obsession for our prehistoric buddies.
3. The movies are actually good
Now, this reason, I admit, is completely subjective but I, for one, definitely think that all the movies in the Jurassic series are done extremely well. They've got the right amount of humor, action, and adventure. Also, the animations and graphics of the movie are well done. Overall, the movies provide the right amount of entertainment for two hours and leave us, viewers, in awe at the end.
Even though its been 66 million years since the last dinosaurs roamed the earth and 25 years from the first movie in the Jurassic series, the hype for the movies still lives on, and for good reasons!
