Junior year of college is a pivotal time for many students. It is an era filled with friends, laughter and wishing you just had that precious degree already. You've learned so much during your first years of college, and yet you still manage to make the same dumb mistakes you did freshman year. At least now, you know how to do them with class.
For instance, when your professor asks you a question in front of the entire class when you weren't paying attention, you don't turn red and stammer, "I... I don't know?"
Now you know how to respond like a real professional. This also goes along with meetings with your academic advisor. OBVIOUSLY, your GPA could use a little boost, but 'C's get degrees, so you don't know why they're so disappointed.
Researching for the future seems a little dismal too. All you want to do is move to Los Angeles and start your life as a rich, sophisticated, young professional, but no, you'd have to sell at least two major organs to afford a one bedroom apartment.
Speaking of that after-college job, you're not entirely sure how you're going to get that. You know you're supposed to "network." Whatever that is. Changing your LinkedIn profile picture counts, right? Your professors have given you the names of prominent people in your desired career, and even offered to introduce them to you, but you'd rather pretend you have better things to do. Like binge watch a show you've watched five times on Netflix.
You've thrown caution to the wind when it comes to going out. Freshman year was all about throwing on a crop top with some high-waisted shorts and walking to the nearest frat party. You'd selfie with the girls and make sure that red solo cup was prominent in your Snapchat story. Junior year you is much more refined. Now, you put on a bulky sweater, knock back a few glasses of your favorite boxed wine, and completely forget you aren't supposed to drink while taking your allergy medication.
You still get stressed over first semester finals, but now you know that tears plus the harsh winter weather will not bode well for your skin.
You need to retain your youthful glow for as long as you can. You aren't getting any younger. Speaking of stressful school work, you haven't gotten much better at managing your time. You have a week's notice to complete that Blackboard quiz, but you still wait until 11:55 p.m. the day it's due to start it.
It's okay. You're still hanging in there and having fun along the way. You don't need to be a fully functioning adult yet. That's what senior year is for, right?
