The New York Yankees are without a doubt one of the most successful teams in MLB. With twenty-seven rings and forty-four pennants to their name, they stand out among the rest.
The Yankees are constantly being bashed but there's so many reasons why becoming a Yankees fan isn't a bad idea. Reasons such as:
1.27 rings. Duh. No team can be compared to the Yankees when it comes to success. The Yankees started winning championships in 1923 and their most recent world series title was earned in 2009.
2. 40 pennants. The team with the second most pennants in the American League is the Oakland Athletics with 15. The team with the most pennants in the National League is the San Francisco Giants with 23.
3. Most Hall of Fame inductees. Frank Baker, Wade Boggs, Yogi Berra, Frank Chance, Jack Chesbro, Earle Combs, Stan Coveleski, Bill Dickey, Joe DiMaggio, Leo Durocher, Whitey Ford, Lou Gehrig, Lefty Gomez, Clark Griffith, Burleigh Grimes, Waite Hoyt, Jim Hunter, Reggie Jackson, Willie Keeler, Tony Lazzeri, Mickey Mantle, Bill McKechnie, Johnny Mize, Phil Niekro, Herb Pennock, Gaylord Perry, Phil Rizzuto, Red Ruffing, Babe Ruth, Joe Sewell, Enos Slaughter, Dazzy Vance, Paul Waner and Dave Winfield to name a few.
4. So many great players. Past and present, the Yankees' lineup has been and is incredible. The Yankees have had players like Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. The Yankees currently have some incredible players like Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, Masahiro Tanaka, Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner.
5. The best fan base in MLB. Win or lose, Yankee fans support 100%. Yankee fans all share the common hatred for the Red Sox as well.
This year can and will be the Yankees' year. Go ahead and jump on the bandwagon now, or on Opening Day, April 4, rather than when the Yankees are in the playoffs and headed towards ring #28.
Go Yankees!
