Judging Others' Sin Is Not What A Christian Does

Judging Others' Sin Is Not What A Christian Does

What’s the deal with all of these judgmental Christians? I know it seems like all Christians want to do is judge people, about everything they do. And I won’t lie, there are a lot of “Christians” that do just that, but it’s not a Christian thing, it comes from the flesh we were born into. There is no place in scripture that says that we are to judge anyone for anything, that’s God’s job.

However, we must understand that judgment and correction are two very different subjects.

The dictionary defines judgment as: the ability to judge, make a decision, or form an opinion objectively, authoritatively, and wisely, especially in matters affecting action. And correction is: to set or make true, accurate, or right; remove the errors or faults from. To reiterate, as Christians we are not allowed to make judgments, but have been given the right to correct others based on “The Law” a.k.a the Bible. When we correct others it should come out of a place of love. That can be confusing but we must understand that this whole thing comes down to love. That’s what it has always been about. Christians should not be out to judge others for some type of personal glory to show everyone that they are better or more righteous.

We do the best we can to be like Jesus each and every day, and that means helping others to be like him as well. In trying to attain that goal it takes understanding what Jesus did to others. He corrected not only his disciples but anyone that he saw that was living in sin. Why? He wanted to quite literally beat the “hell” out of people. The more correcting that is done, the more that our sin aka hell is put out on the table in front of us, the closer we can get to God. God has nothing to do with sin, he is not in it, and he is not of it. Therefore, when we are sinful, it is separating us from our Creator.

So what are we supposed to do when we are corrected by someone about our sin? Repent, and seek God. The true Christians that are trying to correct people based on the Word of God should be doing it out of love for that person, and a hate for their sin. For we know the more that we can see the wrong that is occurring in our lives, the closer we can get to God and the blessings that he wants to pour out into our lives. He has this amazing plan laid out for each and every one of our lives and the more we turn our backs to him and into sin, the farther away we step from his plan.

However, there is beauty in knowing that He will never and has never turned His back on us. Which means at any moment in time all we have to do is turn back, close our eyes, and say, “God I need you, I don’t know what I’m doing!” And that is all that He has ever wanted from us: our hearts.

I once heard something by Susan E. Isaacs and I thought it was the most beautiful thing. She said, “I wondered if that was why God hated sin, because of the destruction it caused. For a moment I felt awe for a God who loved me enough to hate the things that hurt me without hating me for causing them.” That alone is enough for me to not want to commit sin. To know that God still loves me, even though I caused sin to entire into the perfect world that He created for us. Who are we to want to continually run back and forth from sin to God? And when we repent of our sins it is not meant so that we have this special power to continually sin over and over again repeating the same sin.

He's not here just to wash us off so that at one point we just go back to the same junk because it is who we are, we are slaves to sin; we can't help it; we keep running back. What does Christ do about that? What Christ says is, "I will put my Holy Spirit inside of you and now you become a slave to what is right."

I was reading over Romans 8 recently and felt God showing me exactly what we have done not only to humanity but to creation itself.

Romans 8:19-23 reads,

“For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.”

In other words, we have corrupted the beautiful creation of God, but He has not given up on us. Sin does not make us bad people, it makes us dead. And God is not asking us just to turn from sin to be god but to turn from sin so we may come alive. Therefore, we must correct our brothers and sisters and turn from sin, until the day comes when all of the Earth and humanity have been renewed.

Toilet Troubles

"So, usually I would never go on a Tinder date but when you are out with girlfriends and a hot Bosnian guy says he wants to hang with you and his friends, you oblige. We head to their apartment and when I realized I may pee my pants if I don't find a bathroom soon. I ask for the bathroom and a friend of my tinder date shows me to it and said in all seriousness that I was not allowed to flush the toilet under ANY circumstances. Having a few drinks--or five--I relieved myself to, nevertheless, flush the toilet. Within seconds, his bathroom was flooded and towels were laid out everywhere to catch the toilet water. To say the least, we were not invited back"
