As I was scrolling through my Facebook page, I noticed an article called Judge Suggests Rape Victim to “keep her knees together.” As soon as I read the title, shivers were sent down my body from head to toe. I just thought in my head “there’s no way.”

http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/12/world/robin-camp-rap...

Judge Robin Camp is facing removal from his position as judge because of his comments on a rape case that he was the judge of. He had comments for both the rapist and victim which offended many people. The woman, 19 years old was raped over a bathroom sink at a house party. Camp said to the woman “Why didn’t she just skew her pelvic or push her bottom to the sink to avoid penetration? Keep your knees together. Young woman do love to have sex particularly when they're drunk. Some sex and pain goes together and that's not necessarily a bad thing.”

After he acquitted him, the judge told the perpetrator “I want you to tell your friends, your male friends, that they have to be more gentle with woman. They have to be far more patient. And they have to be very careful. To protect themselves, they have to be careful.”

I was in shock when reading about this and also disgusted. To me, everyone has their own opinion. But, some people need to keep their opinions to themselves. How could he say that to a rape victim? She did not want to have to skew her pelvic so she doesn’t get raped, she doesn’t want to get raped at all! He even gave the rapist advice and tried to help him so he wouldn’t get caught again. The judge is also being investigated in Canada by a judicial committee to see whether he will hopefully lose his job.

Rape culture is not only a major issue in America, it’s an issue that needs to be resolved all over the world. Even though we are fighting very hard to take away his job as a judge, who knows how many other judges there are saying things like Camp is. Rape culture needs to come to an end.

Daily Fun Lists

One of the most dreaded places on campus is the library. Nothing awesome ever happens here. Usually, the only reason you're here is because you've procrastinated so long that the library is the only place you'll actually get stuff done. It gives you this feeling of sadness and impending doom. You have no idea how this is going to go or how long you'll be here, but you do know it is about to be the most excruciating experiences yet. But it has to get done, so you drag yourself to the lovely library.

With each new year comes new goals.

Deciding on a goal can be hard, unsure of what to change for this new year. A new goal for myself is to be happier and take care of myself more. I am a very driven person; so driven that I commit to a million and ten things.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.
