Finally it is December! The Christmas festivities can (justifiably) begin. December is the time of year where everything seems to get a little bit warmer, despite the fact that it is gradually getting a little colder outsider everyday.
December is the time of year that we all get to go into the store and soak in the beautiful decorations and scents of pine, cookies and peppermint. December is when we can break-out our ugly holiday sweaters that are just oh so cute! December is the time that we can bless our friends and family with gifts and show them in inventive ways how much we care.
December is the time when we all secretly hope to get snowed in, even though we all complain about it. Hot chocolate and peppermint lattes are an essential drink. Slippers and pajamas become acceptable to wear in public. December is the time designated to joy. Why is it really meant to be joyful though?
Joy to the world, the Lord has come! In December, we get to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. He is the reason for the season and it is important not to forget that. All the fun traditions our families do are fantastic, but if they take the focus off of Jesus, there is no point in celebrating at all.
Take some time this holiday season and reflect on what really matters this Christimas. Don't lose sight of the important things during the holiday rush. Find joy in every second we have been blessed with. Enjoy the peace, love and happiness we are given each day by our Lord.
God bless, each and every one of you!
