Hello all! This is my first journal entry that I am publishing to The Odyssey. Within this short entry, I discuss my thoughts on the Women's March and how it symbolizes unity.
2/6/17
"The goal of this march was to establish a sense of unity that people were afraid Donald Trump would destroy. It was not strange or bizarre for people, especially women, to think this way after hearing sexist and racist statements from Trump during his campaign. People were scared, and this march stated that they were not going to give into fear. People marched for various reasons and beliefs, including views on abortion.
During this march, women exercised the first amendment in different ways, such as holding signs and wearing costumes and pussy cat hats. While some methods of expression were more effective than others, each person contributed to this march, and the majority of people, who expressed themselves appropriately, defined the march as a symbol of unity."
While my journal entry is relatively short, it still voices my opinion, which is what the Women's March was about. I support all of the women that went to march, and I wish I could have been one of them.
