Discovering new music is always an interesting journey. Most of the time, I discover new artists by hearing a song I like and "Shazaming" it. Once a month, I take a look at the songs I save from Shazam and look up the artists of the songs I liked. One of the most recent artists I have discovered this way is Jon Bellion.
His music can be described as contemporary pop that mixes rap, indie rock, and R&B. The sound of his music is soothing and can be good to workout to at the same time. The most memorable part about his music are the lyrics. He mixes the lyrics that are written beautifully and blow your mind at the same time. His music really makes you think.
Jon recently released his debut album, The Human Condition on June 10, 2016 and landed at number 5 on the Top Billboard charts. This album is one of those that you have to set aside an hour to focus on nothing else but listening to it. As the title implies, it is about the human condition itself, and what humans go through within their lives. While listening to it, there were several points where I cried just because it hit me so hard. The lyrics truly make you think about life and existence. The music itself is beautiful and haunting at the same time, seamlessly flowing from one song to the next.
He has drawn inspiration from Disney and Pixar films, hoping to gain the producers attention. He dreams to be able to work on the score for one of their movies someday. Because of the way his music sounds and how it makes you think, I believe that he will someday. Jon Bellion is definitely an artist to watch, as he has been extremely successful so far in his work.
Jon Bellion has previously released multiple mix tapes and has collaborated with others on a few hit songs, but The Human Condition is his first full album. The album is available on Spotify, iTunes, and CD. Go ahead and take a listen. You may have already heard him, as the other day I heard one of his songs playing at work, and just smiled.
