I am a Christian in a non-denominational university with a large Jewish population. Going into college, I knew that I wanted to be a part of a Christian fellowship. So when my friend Jeannette, a junior at Cornell University, introduced me to Cru, I was excited to join the community. Cru is an international evangelical organization with chapters operating in countless countries, with the goal of spreading the gospel around the world.
Even though I grew up in a Christian family and have been to church almost all my life, I never found myself connecting with the Christian community, especially after I went to boarding school and no longer felt like I belonged at my church back home.My favorite part about the Cru community is that it extends beyond the Brandeis campus. Thanks to Citywide, our monthly meet-ups, and Fall Retreat, I have had the privilege of meeting Christians from other colleges in the area.
I have been in Cru for two months now, and I love this group of humans a little more every day because:
1. They help me grow to be a woman in Christ.

These people are kind, passionate, caring and loving – I learn to be a better person from their actions. From them I also learn more about my own religion as I continue to build my relationship with God.
2. We are on the same page, morally.

Even at a stereotypically nerdy school like Brandeis, there are lots of things going on, and some of these activities do not fit in to our Christian beliefs. It is always nice to have a group of friends who are on the same page as you, morally, and do not judge you for what you stand by. They are also the ones who keep you in check when you are about to go astray.
3. We support each other without judgment.

Knowing that there is always someone I can text if I need help or just want someone to talk to is so reassuring. I promise we love each other in spite of our constant use of sarcasm and shade.
4. We always have a good time.
