Join the Women's March on Washington this Saturday

At 10 AM on January 21, women will march through Washington D.C. starting from Independence Ave and Third Street to protest Donald Trump's inauguration and to advocate for women's rights. There are so many reasons why this protest will be great and why I think, if you can, you should go.

1. It is an amazing way to be politically active.

Many people have a hard time speaking their political voice and they want to find a way to advocate for what they believe. If you are fighting for women's rights, this march is such a great way to speak out with a group of people who are also fighting for the same cause.

2. There are going to so many celebrities there like Katy Perry, Scarlett Johansson, and more!

If your dream is to hangout or maybe get a selfie with Katy Perry or Scarlett Johansson then the Woman's March is the place to go. There are going to be so many celebrities there who will join in to fight for women's rights.

3. It is going to be a safe and peaceful protest.

Maybe people have the idea that protests always end in some kind of violent riot, but that is not how this march will be. The organization running the event has security all of the event making sure everyone is safe and the march runs smoothly.

These are just a few of the reasons why you should attend this amazing event. In this country we need more people to speak their mind and put their best foot forward to make a change in the world. This march can be a great way to get the ball rolling for politically change.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
