Who knew a saturday detention could ever be so enthralling?

Join The Breakfast Club

I admit that the first time I watched "The Breakfast Club," I did so just because I had heard about this movie so much I felt obliged to. It was around midnight, and I put it on so I could watch something and fall asleep halfway through it (which is what happens 95 percent of the time I start watching something this late) -- but around two hours later, once the movie was done, I found myself crying and very much awake, absolutely in awe of what I had just watched. "The Breakfast Club" is now my favorite movie of all time, and if you haven’t watched it yet, I recommend you do so soon -- and to convince you, I made a list of reasons why it conquered my heart (and the world’s, possibly).

1. It focuses on stereotypes of high school kids -- but then completely reverses them.

2. It is very relatable (to everyone, I promise).

3. Despite it carrying a meaningful message and making you think, it is still fun to watch.

4. Friendship and human nature are its ultimate themes, and these are explored in a very sincere manner.

5. The actors were so into their roles that one of the movie’s most iconic and honest scenes was ad-libbed.

6. The soundtrack is fantastic, and it turned this song into an icon.

I thought senioritis in high school was rough until I became a college senior about to go into the real world. I'm supposed to have everything figured out, right? I mean I went through four years of tough classes and serious self-searching (and crying). What I found overall was Senioritis sneaking up on me.

It takes a little while to get used to not seeing your high school best friends every day. Going away to college causes a lot of changes, but one thing that will never change is my love for my high school BFFs, and the texts that I get from them. College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
