Okay, Hello to my fellow FGCU Eagles as many of you do not know our very own school has an amazing dance team. Also yes we are called the Dancing E'gals, other than the numerous amounts of times I get told I spelt the word "eagle", I would say we have a pretty clever name. I mean it is such a unique play on the word eagle.
Well for those who do not know what we do, the E'gals get to help promote school spirit for FGCU at many different events, including the ever so famous basketball games. I mean who would not want the chance to be able to perform for the infamous Dunk City! Another superb experience the E'Gals get is to compete against other D1 schools at the UDA Collegiate Nationals in Orlando. In fact just last year on only the E'Gals third time to compete they won eighth in the nation. (For my people, who know nothing about dance that is a VERY superior title to hold).
The E'Gals will be back in action in Orlando this January as well. Along with dancing we also can be seen participating in local community service events throughout SW Florida. Being an FGCU Dancing E'Gal is much more than just dance is is being a part of a family. Although it is only my first year being a member of team, I feel like these ladies have been my friends my whole life, in fact they are not just my friends but my sisters. These girls would drop anything to help me out and I would do the same for my teammates. Besides having an awesome team, that pushes me to be the best version of myself, we have amazing coaches too. Our coaches help perfect us and push us succeed. I mean, I might be a bit biased but who would not want to join E'Gals...?
If you are interested, the FGCU Dancing E'Gals will be holding auditions Monday, Sept. 14th in the FGCU fitness center. For more details, check out the FGCU Dancing E'gals Facebook page, follow us on twitter @FGCUdancingEGal, and follow on instagram @FGCUdancingE_Gals. And for those who had no clue that FGCU had a dance team, you are now educated so please, stop thinking that I spelt the word eagle wrong.
