If you need to work during school or even if you want a little extra spending cash, these are some perfect jobs for ASU students. Almost all of these jobs can be found on the ASU job portal in your myASU.

Desk Assistant

This is seriously such a great job because the majority of your time can be spent doing homework while greeting people. You'll also get to know a lot of cool people through this and it's super flexible because they understand that everyone working is a student first and a desk assistant second. You do however have to live on-campus to have this job so it'd be great for a freshman!

Office Aide/Assistant

If you want something more focused on your major or something you're interested in, this is another student job that'd be perfect. You can be an office aide within your own school or pretty much any office around campus and again are pretty flexible.

On-Campus Dining

All of the MU restaurants (yes, that includes Starbucks) hire student workers and this is a great job if you don't have transportation but don't want to work lots of hours. As an ASU employee and student, you can work a maximum of 25 hours each week but this job doesn't have that requirement since it's not directly with ASU. Since this job isn't working with ASU directly, you'll have to apply on the Aramark (food provider) website itself.

Greek Leadership Community Center Operations Aide

If you plan on being involved with Greek life, you'll probably be spending a lot of time in the Greek Leadership Village. This way, you can spend time there, and get paid while you're there.

Intramural Official

This is the job for people with lots of classes because almost all of the times that you'll need to be working are at night since that's when intramurals take place. It's also a great way to continue to be involved with sports if that was something that was a big part of your high school life.

Residential Hall Association Vice President

This VP position can be great to get more involved with your community and a great organization on campus. Some of the residential halls hire a freshman as their VP along with a stipend so if you're living on-campus and love planning events for your dorm, I would suggest keeping an eye out for this position at the beginning of the year.

Research Aide

For my fellow nerds out there that want to do even more educational things outside of classes, this is great! A lot of these research jobs will be volunteer to start but a few do offer pay right away. However, is research is what you're looking for, I would highly recommend looking into places you're actually interested in and not just research positions that are paid.

Nanny

A few of my friends have worked as nannies during the school year and absolutely loved it. Depending on who you work with, the hours can be incredibly flexible and it's a great alternative to a more structured, hourly job as every day will bring about new surprises. One company that I've known about that can help you become established is College Nannies which pairs you with local families that match your needs.

While these are some of the best jobs I've done and heard of, there are literally hundreds listed on the ASU job portal under the Finance tab on your myASU so feel free to check those out as well.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
