Just when you thought you finally had this college thing down to a science, you’re faced with a whole new reality -- the real world. Now that recruitment season is in full swing, I’m sure many of you have noticed patterns in some of your friends’ behaviors. Think about it: You’ve got the friend who is constantly worrying, another who applies to jobs here and there, and finally, the one who is oblivious to the process as a whole. Whether you are a senior seeking full-time employment, or a sophomore or junior on the internship hunt, I am sure you have experienced some (or all) of the following realities.
Okay I can do this.
So. Many. Applications.
Oh look, this one looks cool.
I need a cover letter?
Oh look, another rejection email.
Most companies haven't gotten back to me at all. Maybe the emails went to spam?
Nope, not there either.
Okay, I guess I'll check that one off the list, too.
*Friend consoles me while reading a rejection email.*
OMG WAIT, I GOT AN INTERVIEW.
PREP. PREP. PREP.
Interview day. I got this.
Who is this unknown number calling me? I should answer, it could be important.
I got the job? Wow, thank you for this amazing opportunity.* Cue freakout.*
The job hunt is rough. Some people might have an easier time than others, but everything always works out. Remember, you're not alone.
