Everyone knows the tragic story of how the great John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated...

Or do they?

Many people, including myself, believe there is more to the infamous assassination than we have always been told. All my life, I have never truly trusted the government and what they had to say. They never answer the questions everyone has been asking - was it an inside job? Did Lee Harvey Oswald act alone? What really happened?

First, I will tell you the story everyone learns about in school.

Our story begins on November 22nd, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy traveled to Dallas to smooth over frictions in the democratic party. The motorcade left from the Dallas Love Field, and the route gave him maximum exposure to the people. Around 12:30 P.M, the motorcade passed the Texas School Book Depository when shots were fired toward the president. Around 80% of witnesses claimed to have heard three shots. President Kennedy was fatally shot in the head and neck, his brains reportedly all over the first lady's lap. Governor Connally was also wounded, but he did not hear a shot when he was hit. Some people believe he was hit by a bullet from Kennedy known as the "magic bullet". Lee Harvey Oswald is believed to have shot the president from the Texas School Book Depository. Oswald was an honorably discharged marine; he also spent some time in the soviet union. He was believed to be a Russian radical, but it was never proven. He was originally arrested for killing Officer J.D Tippit forty-five minutes after the president was shot. Oswald denied all accusations against him. Unfortunately, two days after the assassination, Lee Harvey Oswald was shot fatally in the abdomen by Jack Ruby. In September 1964, The Warren Commission concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination of President Kennedy.

Now, let's move on to the conspiracy theories.

1. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson

Many people believe the vice president had Kennedy assassinated. More specifically, that he hired Oswald to do the dirty work. Johnson wanted to become president before he became too old. He was the one that pushed Kennedy to take the trip in the first place, and to his home state nonetheless. Johnson also controlled MANY of the trip's details. Obviously, there would be an abundance of political gain for the vice president if something were to happen to Kennedy. It's believed that Johnson had received help from the Central Intelligence Agency, who believed they would profit more under a Johnson administration. Johnson, apparently, knows people with ties to the mafia who could possibly have helped him plan the assassination. Could have only formed the Warren Commission to control the outcome.

2. The Umbrella Man

The weather was absolutely beautiful that day. Not a cloud in the sky. That being said... why on earth would there be a man with an open umbrella in the crowd?

The only person to have an umbrella just so happened to be right next to the motorcade when the president was shot. Some people believe the umbrella itself was actually a gun in disguise. It could have also been used to signal shooter(s). Instead of running away when shots were fired, he promptly sat down on the sidewalk and then walked towards the Texas School Book Depository. The same depository believed to have been the sight in which the shooting came from. Fifteen years later at a hearing, Louie Steven Witt, claiming to be "The Umbrella Man" came forward. Louie brought the "same" umbrella to demonstrate how it was simply ordinary. Claimed he had been told an umbrella was a sore spot for the Kennedys, so he did it as a bad joke. It could possibly symbolize Kennedys refusal to give an "umbrella" of air support during the failed Bay of Pigs invasions of Cuba. A raised umbrella would have instantly been understood by the president. Louie Steven Witt was never officially confirmed to be The Umbrella Man.

3. The Magic Bullet

This bullet supposedly passed through Kennedy's torso, through Connally's torso, passing through Connally's wrist, and finally ending up in Connally's thigh. This theory is thought to have been created to fit the Warren Commissions idea that Lee Harvey Oswald was a single shooter firing only three shots. Only three shells were found on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. One bullet caused six wounds and yet was remarkably found intact. One bullet hit James Tague. One bullet caused Kennedy's fatal head wound. The U.S Army did a re-enactment and found the bullet to have suffered substantial damage. The bullet changes course and is too undamaged to have possibly caused all of those wounds.

4. Secret Service Agent

Howard Donahue, a gunsmith, concluded the presidents head wound suggests that the rifle found in the depository did not fire the fatal blow. Entry wound is only 6 mm which is not consistent with the 6.5 mm bullet from Lee Harvey Oswald's gun. Donahue concluded that Agent George Hickey accidentally shot Kennedy when the car suddenly lurched. Witnesses also smelt gun smoke at street level. This possibly could have been covered up, because the Secret Service was mortified that one of their own guys accidentally murdered the president. Witnesses said that the third shot sounded closer to, or came from, the presidential limousine.

5. Jack Ruby

Some believe Jack Ruby was Lee Harvey Oswald's accomplice. As a nightclub owner, Ruby is known to have ties to the mafia. He also has many friends on the police force. Ruby murdered Oswald two days after the assassination, possibly to keep him quiet. Ruby once said, "High-ranking individuals were responsible for his plight and would suppress the truth about Oswald's slaying." Rose Chermani, a stripper at Ruby's club, has said that Ruby and Oswald were very good friends and plotted to kill the president together. Allegations were made that Ruby was seen delivering a rifle to the grassy knoll on the morning of the assassination. Ruby was also seen in Dealy Plaza around the time of the assassination.

Disclaimer: These conspiracy theories are just for fun. I am not stating that any of them are true. My intentions are not to be disrespectful to anyone.
