After a rough loss in week one against the Cincinnati Bengals due to careless mistakes, the New York Jets got back on track after an explosive offensive performance against their previous head coach, Rex Ryan: the man who kept them out of the 2015-2016 playoffs. The final score was 37-31, and about every player on the Jets offense was in sync. There couldn't have been a better outcome.
Fun fact: under the current playoff format, just 12 percent of 0-2 teams have reached the postseason, compared to 41 percent of 1-1 teams. With that being said, it was a MUST win game for the Jets. Ryan Fitzpatrick asserted his dominance and completed 24 of 34 passes for 374 yards along a touchdown.
Let's talk about the receivers for a little bit. Eric Decker had sixcatches for 126yards and a touchdown, and he's now had at least 80 receiving yards or a touchdown in 18 straight games. Pretty impressive right? Marshall also had sixcatches for 101yards. He scared a plethora of Jet fans after going to the locker room for a knee injury, but he came back onto the field and proved that he didn't miss a step. Even Enunwa, who exited the fans, had six catches for a career-high 92 yards.
To wrap up the offense was the impressive Matt Forte, who bullied his way to 100 yards and three touchdowns on 30carries against the Bills. Coming off of injuries people have been skeptical, but Forte was impressive and did the job for the Jets.
The Jets did allow 31 points which isn't the way their defense usually works, but they got their offense carried the workload and got the job done on Thursday. Revis got beat terribly on the first drive of the game, but he seemed to settle in as the game went on.
The Jets will look to go 2-1 on September 25th when they travel to Kansas City.
