Jesus Is Better

Better than anything than you can imagine.

Jesus Is Better

God is greater than the highs and the lows. He is better than any victory and any failure. Jesus is Himself, goodness, and grace. He is the best, He is the winner, He is first in any competition. He has already won. His is all the victory. Here is a list of things Jesus is better than.

Jesus is better than vanity.

We serve a God, who is completely and entirely in love with our broken, tangled, and messy hearts. He is in love with us individually. He created us in His image. You're beautiful, and not only is Jesus better than your looks, but He is better than whether or not you like them yourself.

Jesus is better than any comfort.

He calls us out of comfort. He calls us His child, but calls us to be ambassadors. He tells us to “make disciples of all nations.” That is certainly outside of my comfort zone, but praise Him because how else would I ever learn more about His goodness if I never left where I was comfortable?

Jesus is better than your significant other.

Yes, He is so much better than that guy/gal who makes your heart beat fast and your eyes light up. People will fail you, but Jesus cannot.

Jesus is better than your breakup.

He is better than those tears you’re ashamed to still be crying. He is better than your misunderstanding. He is in tomorrow. He promises hope and a future. He also loves you more deeply than anyone on this earth.

Jesus is better than the seasons.

He lives in all of them. Figuratively and literally, Jesus is in each season of the year and remains constant through them. Winter is my favorite and spring may be yours. Seasons change. He does not.

Jesus is better than good grades. Jesus is better than bad grades.

Rejoice, rejoice! Grades are not eternal. This isn’t to say that doing our best to glorify Him in our grades is not important, but each A and each F will still be fleeting at the end of the day. Our Savior is not.

Jesus is better than sunsets.

This means both the good and the bad kinds of sunsets. He is better than the beauty of the colors painted in the evening sky. He is also better than any day, or maybe a season of life, coming to an end.

Jesus is better than sunrises.

Again, I’m talking the good kind and the bad. He is better than the nerves and excitement that come with starting something new. He is still better than those colors He paints in the morning sky.

Jesus is better than you and me.

Praise The Lord that He is better than me. Praise Jesus that I am not following a Savior that I am smarter than. Praise God that when I don’t know whom I am or what I’m supposed to be doing, He is better. I lift praises that I don’t have to be in control of a life that is reliant on anyone else’s brokenness or my own.

Jesus is better than anything you can imagine.

He is sovereign. He holds us. He knows the depths of our hearts and loves us the same. He is so much better than anything that this world will ever have to offer.

Jesus is better. I bask in that, and I am grateful.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
