If you've watched "New Girl", you know that Jess is a character that could be related to just about anyone. With her cute quirk and charm, many people find that they have a bit of Jess Day in their lives daily. For those of us that are future teachers, we feel this on a whole separate level. Honestly, we almost aspire to be like her. So, here is seven times our beloved favorite character was all too relatable to us future educators.

1. When Jess brings home students to teach them how to play the bells.

For anyone going into education, you most likely dove in for the kids. There's nothing more relatable than wanting to do everything you can to help a student, and Jess proves that in this particular episode.

2. When someone tries to sabotage the school dance.

In season three, there was an episode where Jess REALLY wanted to throw this school dance and for everything to be perfect, but someone was trying to sabotage it. After she had come to find out it was one of her middle school students, she sat down with the girl and helped her through her issues leading her to destroy the dance (SPOILER: It was because she didn't have a date) despite her anger. This was really inspiring to me as a future educator because of the forgiving nature needed to be successful in this particular professions

3. Her rise to being a principal.

With my ultimate aspirations lying in becoming an administrator, more specifically a potential principal, I see a lot of myself in Ms. Day as an educator.

4. The school plays.

Have you SEEN her dedication? She's usually in costume even BACKSTAGE for moral support. Sometimes she's even IN the play. Inspiring, truly. I can't wait to do the most for my students.

5. When she taught a class of adults.

When she got laid off from doing what she loved and considered giving up and switching careers, she took a job teaching adults in night school. Not only does this show her passion for the job, but it shows that you can't give up what you love. I hope that I can be as passionate as Jess Day in my future educational profession.

If you haven't seen "New Girl", future educator or not, I highly recommend the show. I laughed, I cried, I was in awe of some of the stupidity... but it never gets old.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!
