Here in Jersey we're blessed with a lot of things that other states are not. For example, we have Wawa, pork roll, the best tomatoes, and Stewart's Drive-In just to name a few; but we New Jerseyans always want more. Even though we love the east coast, and are proud of our Garden State and the food it has to offer, we feel betrayed, slighted, and outright tricked.
Last week an article went viral on Facebook about an In-N-Out coming to Seaside. Of course, everyone in New Jersey flipped out because we all automatically assumed that it meant Seaside, New Jersey. The sacred stomping ground of the Jersey Shore cast. We didn't possibly imagine there could be another Seaside. There can only be one, and New Jersey has it. When people in Jersey thought that an In-N-Out was coming to the east coast, let alone the good old NJ, it was something incredible. No matter how much we love our state, we still yearn for the constant warmth of the California sun, and the delicious looking cheeseburgers we're forced to only look at on Instagram. The thought of an In-N-Out actually coming to Seaside set the people of Jersey into a tizzy. The summer road trips, the aesthetic, the Instagram opportunities; having an In-N-Out gives so much to offer...or so we thought.
It turns out that the In-N-Out article that tricked citizens across Jersey failed to make it clear that the In-N-Out is actually going to Seaside, California. Heartbreak, as well as anger, flooded across the Garden State when people discovered that NJ is not going to get to experience the deliciousness that Californians brag about with their trendy cheeseburger and fries pic on the red tray with the In-N-Out logo visible. You know exactly what I'm talking about.
Of course one could argue that simply reading the article would show that the famous chain is not in fact opening in NJ, but California. Here in the good old state of NJ, we don't take time to read things. We see a headline and go with it. Therefore the deceiving headline of "In-N-Out due to open in Seaside" took everyone by surprise and got a lot of people way more excited than they should be.
It's a shame that we aren't getting to try the gooey delicious cheeseburgers and hold the infamous red tray, but we'll always have the best diners, bagels, and pizza in the world. That's something that will never, ever change.
