Valentine's Day is among us, ladies and gents. The most romantic day of the year has arrived. For all you adorable couples out there, I honestly (without any intended sarcasm or bitterness) hope that your day is filled with gifts and love and happiness. It's a beautiful day to spend with someone you love.

I don't have a Valentine. I'm basically as single as they come, but that's totally OK! There is no reason why a someone who is single can't have an equally as indulgent and awesome Valentine's Day. You can have a great day treatin' yo-self or share it with your best gal pal and have the greatest Gal-entines Day ever. So all my single ladies, put your hands up and don't wait for a ring. We don't need one to have a good time.

With that said, here is how I plan on spending my Valentine's Day. Feel free to steal some ideas for yourself.

1. Sleep until 12 pm.

I do this most days but today I'm having #noragrets.

2. Get all doll'd up because I feel like it.

I shouldn't have to have a reason to look cute. I'm looking cute for me and no one else.

3. Get a completely necessary Mani/Pedi.

Because let's be honest ladies, when the nails look on fleek, we feel on fleek.

4. Go to a pet store, play with puppies.

Fact: puppies make literally everything better. Just make sure your nails are dry first.

5. Spend some $$$$

That super cute Urban dress you've been eyeing? Buy it. The matching cardigan? Buy it too.

6. Eat chocolate. Eat a lot of chocolate.

I'll have a nice workout tomorrow thank you very much. But for now: Carpe diem, seize the chocolate.

8. Take lots of selfies.

Either with your girls or by yourself. Either way, document this glorious day.

9. Soak in the tub.

One of life's great luxuries. Bubbles, candles, great music, and a good book are required.

10. Watch all of the romantic movies and be totally OK with my life choices.

I love these movies. Yes I will cry. A lot. But just 'cuz these people are in love and I'm not doesn't mean I can't enjoy the movie. Maybe I'm a masochist.

So there you have it. The official steps to having the ultimate Valentines Day/Gal-entines Day/Single's Awareness Day. But why limit these ideas to just one day of the year? I do a lot of these things multiple times a week to be honest. The key here is to enjoy yourself whichever way you know how. Do what makes you happy in life and your life will be happier as a whole. So single or not, here's to enjoying life and the people in it this February 14.

**Alternate idea**

If you are of age, wine is always a good time.

Because sometimes staying in with the girls and a nice bottle of wine is the only thing any of us really need. Just remember to drink responsibly!

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
