Donald Trump may be a jerk according to Jeb Bush, but he’s still the front-running candidate for the Republican Party, and this is a serious problem.
According to CNN.com, Trump is in the lead at 39% while Bush is left in the dust with a measly 3%. The candidate chosen to represent the Republican Party has a very likely chance of being elected into office. If Trump were to be elected, there’s no doubt America would be turned upside down. But exactly how would this affect America? Although I’m one to support the notion that being “politically correct” is wrong, Trump’s version of this idea crosses the line into being blatantly offensive, and Jeb Bush agrees.
Trump has had several incidents with offensive demeanor towards minorities, most of which have been widely ignored. Bush gets his true feelings off his chest about Trump and I couldn’t agree more. “You cannot insult your way to the presidency...you can’t disparage women, Hispanics, disabled people. Who is he kidding?...This country is far better than that, and the idea that he’s actually running for president and insulting people is deeply discouraging,” said Bush.
Last month, Trump allegedly mocked a New York Times reporter with a disability but denied all accusations. Jeb Bush was asked at a New Hampshire campaigned event by a disabled person how he would help the disabled if he were elected into office. After answering the question, he made it a point to bring up Trump’s altercation that was swept under the rug. Bush then “allowed himself a moment of therapy” and publicly divulged how he really feels about the GOP frontrunner, exclaiming “Donald Trump is a jerk.”
Aside from Trump’s constant remarks about Bush’s low energy and boring stage presence, he also called Bush “dumb as a rock” this past Friday. It’s about time Bush put his true uncensored feelings on the table. How is that for boring, Trump? Bush finished off his outburst with, “I feel better now… thank you for allowing me to do that.” No Jeb, thank you. Thank you for saying what we were all thinking.
Now, I’m going to take a page out of Jeb’s book and get something off my chest about the GOP frontrunner. The biggest issue I have with Trump is his campaign strategy or should I say circus performance. His need to present this big personality is part of his coding and is a huge component of his success in the business world. Let’s all just take a minute and realize the business world and political world are not the same thing, and they shouldn’t be! Politicians never used to be businessmen, they were noble, courageous, honorable men who were typically founding fathers or war generals.
One of my main issues with Trump’s campaign is his awful slogan, “Make America Great Again.” Why? Because it is a manipulation tactic. Pretty telling of a businessman, huh? First off, America is currently in this moment great. It is by no means lacking in greatness. The economy is doing well, employment rates have been rising over the past few years, and though we have plenty of issues such as gun violence and terrorism to tackle, that does not in any way subtract from that stature.According to Profit Confidential, “Unemployment levels have dropped to just 6.1% and inflation is in check. Further, the Federal Reserve is winding down its bond buying program.” If Trump believes belittling minorities, supporting prejudice, and manipulating the American people to blindly follow him is going to “Make America Great Again,” he is sorely mistaken. In the words of Jeb Bush, “Donald Trump is a jerk.”
