When you look at the Milwaukee Bucks, what are the most obvious things you see? You definitely see talent with a former rookie of the year Michael Carter-Williams. “The Greek Freak,” Giannis Antetokounmpo, is a dominate player that can play every position and surely has shown improvement after grabbing five triple-doubles in the 2015-2016 season. The 2014 second overall pick, Jabari Parker, reemerged in great fashion after suffering an injury his rookie year.A newly acquired Matthew Dellavedova, brings stellar defense and a little bit of gold to Milwaukee after winning a championship last season with the Cleveland Cavilers. Bucks drafted Thon Maker, a 7-1 Center, a towering force that can back up elite big man Greg Monroe. The Bucks still have their 3-pt mastermind in Khris Middleton and added someone that can help him on the perimeter in Mirza Teletovic. There is no doubt that the Bucks have a talented roster.
If talent doesn’t help the Bucks record grow, certainly, their length will on the roster. The smallest guy in the starting lineup is 6-6 and that’s your point guard Carter-Williams. Head Coach, Jason Kidd, went even higher on the length chart when he chose the 6-11 Antetokounmpo to replace Williams at the point guard position after MCW suffered an injury last season.Don’t forget about previously mentioned Maker, Milwaukee has some skyscrapers downtown and they look really fierce.
Ultimately, the biggest thing that is noticeable on the Bucks roster though is youth. The Bucks lack the veteran experience that can take them over the top to be a dominant force in the east.Youth is the main reason “The JET,” Jason Terry, landed in Milwaukee. Before the 3rd all-time in career 3-pointers was added to the roster, the average age of the Bucks was 24 and a half. With the 17-year veteran on the Milwaukee roster, he brings wisdom and mentorship to the young bucks of the NBA.
Terry had a range of teams to choose from, but ultimately chose the Bucks due to former teammate, Jason Kidd, who he won a championship with back in 2011 on the Dallas Mavericks.Terry didn’t want to just be a vocal leader on the team, but also a physical leader, and Kidd knows from experience on how valuable his former teammate can be.The JET appreciated how Kidd still sees excellence in him, stating on Sirius NBA Radio, “He knows how valuable I am to him and the Milwaukee Bucks organization and to our success this year as a team.” “I just told him I couldn’t say no.”Terry looks to prove that, the JET still has a lot of fuel in him.
