If you've exhausted all the anime and Japanese TV shows you could watch, perhaps it's time for you to turn towards learning about the Japanese culture straight from the people living in Japan! YouTube has a range of channels that take us directly in the midst of Japanese culture either through the eyes of natives or foreigners who have now made Japan their home. Here is a list of some of the best channels.

1. Life Where I’m From

Life in Japan is run by a father who documents the lives of his children, Aiko and Shin. Aiko and Shin take us through their everyday life activities and show us what Japanese lunch is like or what doing laundry is like and also occasionally take us with them on adventure to Japanese malls and River Parks!

2. Only in Japan

Only in Japan is journalistic documentation of all things that are unique to Japan. From Sake vending machines to Vending machine restaurants!

3. Japan Documentary

As the name suggests, this channel feature short documentaries on Japanese culture from Japanese hair trends to Japanese food trends.

4. Japanology - Lunch On!

If the only thing that comes to your mind when you think of Japanese food is sushi or ramen, you need to watch this channel! It follows regular Japanese people on their lunch breaks and shows us what Japanese people really eat on a regular basis.

5. The Japanese Man Yuta

Yuta takes intriguing questions you may have about Japanese culture and takes them to the streets of Tokyo. Whether it is about racial opinions or dating culture, Yuta has it all covered.

6. Ask Japanese

Ask Japanese is hosted by the bubbly Cathy Cat who goes to the streets of Japan to interview Japanese millennials. Ask Japanese also features some interesting Japanese words which is sure way to improve your language skills.
