Japan is famous for its delicious, cheap sushi and their big bowls of ramen. One food that I think is often overlooked though is the Japanese family restaurant or famiresu. Known for their cheap and fast meals it's a popular place for families to go to. They usually serve western style meals that have a Japanese twist to them. Me and my friends loved going to famiresu because they were so cheap and were usually open really late. It was also a great place to do homework because you could sit there for hours. Our very favorite famiresu was Gusto (ガスト). We had a Gusto 2 minutes away from our dorm and we would go there at least twice a week. All the staff knew us and we have pretty much tried everything on the menu. One of our favorite dishes was mayo corn pizza. Yes, it sounds disgusting, but you can't hate it until you try it. The creamy mayo sauce with some nutritious pieces of corn and some hot sauce --- it's perfection.

If you ever find yourself in Japan you have to go to a famiresu. I took all my friends and family to them when they visited and they loved them just as much as I do. It's a great place to take a break and chow down on some cheap, delicious Japanese-style western food.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
