James Bay Concert Review

I love music; always have and always will. The radio is great, I get to listen to different channels, ranging from country to the Top 100. Even though the radio is great, I like to venture off and find my own music, music that is different than other people's tastes. A few months ago, well more like back in January, a friend of mine said she likes James Bay's music. I thought to myself, "Who's James Bay?" So she showed me one of his songs, and I instantly fell in love with Bay's voice and songs. His voice is different from other male artists out there. In March, my birth month, I decided to buy Bay's Chaos and The Calm album as a birthday present to myself.

Now ten months later, it is October, and on October 1st a couple of my friends and I went to his concert in Boston. Now, I have been to many concerts such as two Taylor Swift concerts, two Kenny Chesney concerts, a Luke Bryan concert, a John Mayer concert, and a Katy Perry concert. So I have been to eight concerts in total so far, but Bay's concert I was the most excited for. Why, well I think it is because he is still building a fan base and some people are still not familiar with him yet. That is what made the concert feel special in a way because he is still climbing his way to be even more known in the music industry.

Bay opened with "Collide" which got the crowd going for the rest of the concert. He played his smash hit "Let it Go" and the crowd sang along to every word with him. He sang my favorite song "If You Ever Want To Be In Love." My level of excitement when I heard the first couple of chords for this song skyrocketed, and he even had the audience sing the chorus with him one more time. Anywhere from the venue you, people could hear people clearly reciting the lyrics.

It was very cold that night, the rain was coming down and the wind wasn't helping as the venue sits on the water and is outside with only a tent covering the seats and stage. James Bay kept his crowd of fans entertained and I instantly forgot that I was cold and that my feet were numb.

Bay closed the show with another one of his popular songs "Hold Back the River." Once again fans were singing along with him while he played guitar and sang.

Next time James Bay comes to town, I know where I will be. He did not disappoint at all. If you haven't heard of him already, get on Youtube, Spotify or iTunes and buy his album; you won't be disappointed.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
