Where do I begin? As a girl who grew up in a die-hard Chicago Cubs family, I have seen it all. I grew up going to games at Wrigley, knowing that the Cubs were going to lose. Yes, that sounds bad but if you're a Cubs fan, you understand. It was the atmosphere Wrigley provided that made me want to go to games, the fun times I had with my family that it reminds me of is what makes being a Cubs fan that much better.
I am naturally geared towards having a huge respect for pitchers in baseball. They control the game, and the immense pressure they are constantly under just makes me appreciate them as a player and a person in general. These past few years as a Cubs fan have been quite memorable, to say the least.
That being said, Jake Arrieta finally made a decision to leave the Chicago and sign with the Phillies'. Naturally, I am hurt, but let us be real here, Major League Baseball is also a business, and with the contract Arrieta signed, he is doing extremely well.
However, this does not mean I am going to burn or never wear my Arrieta jersey.
I want to thank you Jake, for everything you did for Chicago itself, and the Cubs Franchise. You gave the Cubs a shutout in the National League Wild Card game 2015, a complete game, TWO no-hitters, and got yourself a Cy-Young award. Not to mention a World Series Championship in 2016. The emotion you brought into Wrigley everytime you pitched was unreal. You gave the Cubs your best.
Chicago is definitely going to miss you Jake, I know I do. Just remember, I'm not crying, you're crying.
