When everyone thinks of the term cancer, every individual's mindset probably goes towards lung cancer or breast cancer. While the month of October is dedicated to breast cancer awareness, the term that is not discussed enough is Childhood Cancer. The month of September is dedicated to childhood cancer. While the month of September is dedicated to childhood cancer, there is an organization at Augusta University that is helping support this cause perfectly. This organization is called Jaguar Miracle.
Jaguar Miracle has been on campus for almost a year. The current presidents are Bri Ridings and Brandon Edwards. While this organization has not even been on campus for a year yet, they are making an impact on the Children's Hospital located in Augusta, Ga and within the community itself.
Personally, this organization hit's close to home because I am a cancer survivor. While I was not treated at Children's Hospital, I found out about this organization through a close friend known as Harleigh. Harleigh was treated at Children's Hospital for her brain tumor. This organization has helped provide both myself and Harleigh an opportunity to help kids realize that their lives will get better.
This organization main event for this school year is the Dance Marathon. This event is a big party that will help raise awareness for The Children's Hospital of Georgia. Also, this event will take place at Augusta University. This event will start at 6:00 PM and end at 12:00 AM on October 28-29, 2016. Registration begins at 5:00 PM on October 28th.
