I've seen this before
This mountain
It isn't the same but it is familiar
I've been here before
I've carried uncertainty, tripped on my doubt and arriving at my fear
So I can't pretend this is new because I've been here
Where I felt like beginnings were pointless because the endings were always near
So used to the skies being grey and not clear
And I sulked in my sufferings and drowned in my tears
I have learned from the past, now it's a teacher
Instead of being the choir, I am the preacher
I don't carry mountains any more that I was only meant to climb
Change isn't scary when you know it's a new you you'll find
I think I've spent enough time running from pain
When it's never too far behind
Strength is found when it's all you have left
Life can rob of your possessions but your joy can be kept
We have etched in our DNA that we are survivors
Our past may look bleak but makes us all the wiser
In valleys, you learn lessons the mountaintops can never give you
In the darkest hour is when your beam of hope shines through
The mountains we face may look different but really they never change
The unknown may look scary but it's just fear changing its name
