Bachelor Mondays are more than just an excuse to take an artsy Snapchat of your filled wine glass in front of a TV. It's a lifestyle. Had someone tried to tell me that I'd be writing about my appreciation for the Bachelor/ette a couple years ago, I would have laughed in their face. Back then, it was just another reality show that glorified seemingly perfect people and spent thousands of dollars flying them around the world – being a reminder of how mundane my own life is. It baffled me how one girl or guy can have 28 people chosen for them and date them all at once, meanwhile I'm just struggling for that text back. However, that's all changed (well, not really the text back part, but everything else). Once I put my prejudgments aside and fully sat through an episode – I understood what the hype and obsession over the show was. Even more so, watching it with a group of your best girlfriends sets the mood for an even better time.
Similar to how guys enjoy watching their favorite teams on game day – that's what we do with Bachelor Mondays.
Dress comfy.
Eat copious amounts of snacks.
Grab a cup and fill it up.
Cheer when they score.
Shout at the TV like the program can hear you.
There's so much more to the Bachelor Nation than just the weekly rituals. It's a community of hopeless romantics. We want the Bachelor or Bachelorette to end up with someone at the finale. We follow their struggle to find love and to stay sane for two seasons in a row. It distracts us from our own relationship problems because they can't even remotely compare to that of the lucky man or woman. It's become my guilty pleasure and something I know will continue to bond my friends and I – as long as it continues airing. So, if you haven't begun watching this season or give your friends flack for watching it, know that your presumptions about the show are a bit contorted and you should give it a try.
