So, it's Your Freshman Year...

Congratulations, you've made it to college! No more having to get up at the crack of down and waiting for a bell to dismiss you, you're starting your journey to learn how to survive in the real world now. This is when you begin taking classes that actually apply to what you want to do, and you really, really, really have to study. You, a young scholar, will learn a lot the next few years in academia. But you, a young adult, will learn a lot about yourself, too.

If you want to know about my freshman year of college, I'll describe it in the words I think fit best: My freshman year was easily one of the best and most fun years of my life, that went to sh*t at the very end. I've learned a lot from my experiences and wanted to share some things with you. So, without further ado, here's a few things to expect from your freshman year:

1. You're not going to stay friends with everyone you get close to this year.

2. You're going to hate dining hall food.

3. You're going to laugh.

4. You're going to cry

5. You're going to stay up until 5 am and not even realize it because you're having too much fun.

6. You're going to hate some classes.

7. You're going to need to put yourself out there and get involved in everything you possibly can.

8. You're going to make a huge deal over something that will not matter in a year.

9. You're going to meet some one who changes you.

10. You may not pass every test. But if you're struggling, don't be afraid to ask for help.

11. You're going to learn. A lot.

12. You're going to listen to good music and find songs that become your anthems.

13. You're going to have some crazy nights (and even some days).

14. You're going to need coffee at some point.

15. You're going to hate your life during finals week.

16. You're going to feel completely alone sometimes.

17. You're going to want to just go home and hug your mom at least one time.

18. You're going to make big mistakes, and that's okay. You're going to keep move forward.

19. You're going to remember your freshman year of college because it will be one of the most exciting years of your life.

That's all I've got for you.

Good luck.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
