It's Xingo Time

Grab your calendars, planners, and phones and mark down November 17th…its time for Xingo! Alpha Xi Delta is hosting our 7th annual Xingo event from 7-9 PM in Sykes Ballrooms on Thursday, November 17th. For the past 7 years, the women of Alpha Xi Delta have been hosting a big game of bingo with our own twist. As the largest philanthropy event on West Chester's campus, Xingo is a great time for everyone involved. All the proceeds raised will go to Autism Speaks to aid in research for Autism. One in every 68 children is on the autism spectrum, and it is very common with very few answers as to why. Autism Speaks hopes to find out the unanswered questions of autism. Autism Speaks was founded in February of 2008 and is dedicated to funding research for causes and treatment for autism spectrum disorders. The women of Alpha Xi Delta are so passionate about Autism Speaks, and this is our favorite event to host. Last year Xingo raised over $4,000, and we want to do that again. Bring your friends, family, and more to play a few rounds of bingo and have a great time.

Not only do we have a wonderful time hosting and playing bingo with everyone, but we also have amazing prizes for all of you. This year we have a Microsoft surface tablet, GoPro with all the accessories, Bluetooth speakers, FitBit Charge, and so much more! There are raffle baskets filled with food, clothing, gift cards, and everything in between. Tickets are $3 presale and $5 at the door, but make sure to bring your extra change for raffle tickets because you don’t want to miss out on those awesome prizes. Presale tables will be in Sykes Monday through Wednesday from 12-2, so come stop by and grab your tickets early. Make sure to come with an empty stomach for all the yummy free food that will fill your plates. Food from all over West Chester will be waiting for you when you arrive. The women of Alpha Xi Delta look forward to this event all year and we cannot wait to spend it with you. The incredible amount of money that is raised for our philanthropy is what we do it for and the fun comes along with it! Make sure to join us for some bingo, food, prizes, and fun. We can’t wait to see everyone there!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
