It's Time To Stop Letting Hate Rule America

Treat everyone with respect, regardless of what your beliefs are.

I am so sick of all of the hate in this country.

The comments that I hear on a daily basis from people appall me.

Why do they think that it is OK to hate people just because of their race, gender, or sexuality?

Has our country not evolved enough to learn that love trumps hate?

How can we boast about how great America is if we cannot even learn to love, or at the very least, respect each other?

Just because someone is different from you does not mean that it is OK to discriminate towards them.

With suicide rates in the U.S being the highest that they have been in half a century, it is important to look at ourselves and ask ourselves if we are treating people in a way that we would want to be treated.

Almost every week there is some story about some kind of hate crime causing devastating effects, such as suicide or mass shootings.

Little 9 year-old's do not need to be bullied for being gay to the point where they commit suicide.\

I mean how ridiculous is that? That some little kid who has not even had a chance to find his place in the world was bullied so hard for something that he was born as. He never will get to fall in love, never get to go to college, and never get to see the beauty that this world had to offer, because instead he was surrounded by hate from his peers.

It is time that we all take action.

Enough is enough.

Everyone can do something about this.

Parents need to raise their kids to accept everyone. It does not matter if they do not agree with them religiously. It matters that they raise their child to be a decent human being.

We need to be preaching love. Not hate.

Children learn a lot of what they believe from their parents, so it is important that they are raising their kids to respect others.

Teach them to stand up for the kids getting made fun of in class.

The rest of us who are already grown up need to act like it.

I don't care what you believe or what you think about people of other races or sexualities.

You do not need to be derogatory towards them.

Everybody is a person and has feelings. Think about that snarky racist comment before you say it and the effect that it could have on someone else.

Not only does saying stuff like that come off as rude and could hurt people badly, it also make you look ignorant.

This country has been fueled by hatred and discrimination for too long.

So lets all be better to those around us, for our generation in the next.

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
