The craze that swept several nations back in the summer is about to make a come back. Remember all of the people walking around glued to their phones (even more than normal), looking for the virtual Pokemon that were hidden in the real world? Well, that scene is about to return with a fervor at some point in the middle of this month. So get ready to see all the Pokemon Goers again.
For better or worse, Pokemon Go was the number one app of 2016. I actually have it open on my phone as I am typing this. The game has a lot of pros and cons and resulted in a number of things. Some of the positives about this games are: it got gamers to go outside and exercise, it brought people together and resulted in some individuals who were usually shy to speak to people while they walked around, businesses that are Pokestops (a place where players can get experience, Pokeballs, potions and other items just for visiting) have gotten more customers, and some places have received recognition that might not have been discovered if people were not walking around exploring.
Like everything the games does have some negatives that come with it too: even though the game tells players not to, some players have trespassed into places where they were not allowed to go trying to catch a Pokemon; there have been some business that have had their business disrupted so much that they have had to put up a sign that tells people they can't play the game there; and there have been cases of players who were not paying attention to the real world while walking around (even though the opening screen of the game tells players to pay attention to their surroundings) have gotten hurt.
Both the good and bad things of the game have slacked off some over the months due to players catching just about everything in their area. The people who continued to play were more than just the casual fan of the Pokemon franchise. Developers have released several updates trying to recapture its audience. Such as updating the tracking feature where the game will highlight where a Pokestop is so players can find it more easily without getting themselves lost. One such update is going to be released in a couple of weeks that just might succeed in getting all of those players to hit the sidewalks again in the effort to catch them all. The inclusion of generation two Pokemon. Now instead of there being 150 available to be caught there will be 251 out there in the wild. So get ready to see the resurgence of people reenacting their childhood dream of being a Pokemon trainer.
