We've done it, America. We are down to two presidential candidates. They were chosen as the "best of the best." Some people, including myself, would disagree with the qualifiers we have been ever so graced with: Hillary Rodham Clinton and Donald J Trump. One of these two will be the President of the United States for the next four years.
But wait, what about Gary Johnson? Or Jill Stein?
Yes. Those are presidential candidates. They are not acceptable choices when you cast your vote this November. This election is extremely important for the future of this nation.
We need to ensure that we make the right choice in this election and voting for a third-party should not be an option in your mind. Voting a third-party will only ensure a vote for the candidate you do not want to win. If you absolutely detest Trump and slightly dislike Hillary and you vote for Gary Johnson, you are essentially voting for Trump by taking a vote away from Hillary. Vice versa.
Actually, maybe consider the vice versa if you're considering voting for Trump. I digress.
I am not going to try and tell you how to vote. I am not going to ask you to sacrifice your political integrity and vote for someone whose policies you do not agree. What I will ask you, however, is to seriously consider taking a political stance this election and decide if voting against the two-party system is the right choice. As I said before, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States. That is something we need to deal with. It is time to buck up, figure out the facts and vote for the two-party candidate that best supports your political views.
Maybe 2020 will be your year to challenge bipartisanship. Only time will tell.
