It's Time To Be Happy
Birambi

Life knows how to throw those fast balls. It also enjoys passing out expired lemons -- can you even make lemonade from that? (add enough sugar and most likely!)

It's completely normal to have an off day or be down in the dumps. Hey -- take Eeyore for example. He may be feeling blue from time to time, but he found a magical way to capture our hearts.

On those days when you feel off remember to treat yourself to your favorite kind of candy or video game. It's alright to seclude yourself from time to time, it's apart of our human nature to do so.

I've thought about you, the very person reading this, and you don't want to have off days. Or at least you don't like to have too many of them. I've done some searching and there are SO many ways to be happy. Remember back to a time when your whole body felt warm, happy and maybe even a little fuzzy. If you can't remember a time like that then I suggest you do some digging. Every single person has at least one feeling like that in their lifetime. If we're lucky we can learn to love the little things in life and have that feeling almost everyday.

Feeling emotions that make us happy can seem trivial when you've experienced great losses in life. I'm here to tell you that it's okay. You can't convince yourself to feel over night, it will take time. And if you're wondering why you should take advice from a random person writing this post, I suppose we can get a little personal. I tend to take life for granted. Things pass me by and until too many years go by do I reflect on the good that I had in front of me. Upon that realization I decided to work on changing my mentality about being happy.

You have to appreciate the little things, because when you look back they will be the big things.

Be Happy.

It's okay to dance in your car when your favorite song comes on. Jam out on that steering wheel and DON'T CARE that another driver is staring - so what! Who knows you may even inspire them to let loose! Enjoy those days when it's raining 24/7. It is the perfect time to put on super fuzzy socks and wear them all day long. Order that extra side of cheese fries - don't count calories until next week. And if something bad happens, I highly recommend buying as much ice cream as you can carry and put your favorite sad movie that never fails to make you cry. Put your phone on airplane mode and let it all out. It's actually scientifically proven that crying is a release that helps our body.

At the end of the day it's all in your choice on how and what to feel. I choose happiness. I choose celebrating birthdays as obnoxiously as possible because LIFE is amazing.

It's time to be happy. It's time to enjoy life before it passes us by. Don't feel guilty for enjoying life. Work on finding what little things make you happy. You can do it, because I believe in your happiness.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
