Well, it's summer, which means its time to get outside. You may not want to go to the lake or a park though since COVID-19 is still active. Starting a garden, however, is a great way to get the outdoor activity you seek without risk of catching COVID-19.
To start your garden, you'll want to figure out what you want to plant. You could plant fruit, vegetables, or herbs that you could eat, or you could simply plant flowers that could brighten up your home. You will also need to decide whether or not you want to start with seeds or with an already grown plant.
You will also need to find the right type of plants for the sunlight your garden gets. Plants that require direct sunlight, such as peppers and tomatoes, are best during the summer because of the clear skies and hot sun. However, if your garden space is in the shade, or partially in the shade, you will need to find something that will grow well in those environments.
Planning your garden space is important as well. If you have a patch of land that fits the sunlight requirements of the plants you want to grow, then you will be ok to plant there. However, if your garden space does not fit what your plants need (i.e. you want to grow peppers, but your garden is shady) then get some flower pots or planters that you can put in a sunny place, and plant your plants there.
Make sure to take care of your plants once you plant them. Water them as needed and over time your plants will grow into a beautiful garden. If you planted fruits or vegetables, you can also pick them when they are fully grown and use them in cooking.
Summer is a great time to get outdoors. Gardening lets you get outside while staying close to home.
