For many college kids, December is both the best and worst month of the entire year. On one hand, it is a time of joy, holidays, and winter break where we go home and see our family and friends. But on the other hand, it is full of projects, finals, possibly moving dorms, packing and unpacking, buying presents with all the money you don't have, and possibly stressing about family gatherings.
December can be a magical time, especially for those who celebrate Christmas. We are promised cheer and joy, presents under a glittering tree, and all the cookies you can eat. Also, we go back home! Someone to do your laundry, make home cooked meals, and no need for shower shoes! But before we can achieve this stress-less bliss, we must first tackle the most stressful weeks of our lives.
Finals are the literal worst. And, to make it worse, the temperature has dropped to close to freezing. This makes going to the library or study sessions unbearable, having to bundle up to survive the walk to and from, and then stripping down once inside due to the blasting heat. Altogether, winter is the worst time of the year if you're trying to leave your dorm to study and be productive. And don't get me started about the chance of illness right now. Let's just say there will be a lot of sniffling and sneezing in your exam rooms these next few weeks.
Overall, December is a confusing time of conflicting events, which adds a lot of stress on college students. We have so many things to do in so little time. But, if we can get through this, I think we can get through just about anything.
