It's So Important To Know You're Important

Even on your worst days, you still rock.

If you are having a bad day, keep reading. Especially if it's really bad.

We all struggle. We all have days where the only activity that doesn't seem dreadful is eating an entire box of Thin Mints. That's cool, and no one is judging you. But since you are reading this, so do you know what that means? It means you are alive, (unless you are not, in which case please contact me because that's pretty insane) and that is pretty much the most amazing thing ever and you should definitely not take a single second of it for granted. It is only going to happen once.

Even though I may not know you personally, I am here to tell you that your existence is awesome, even if you think otherwise. Here's why.

Think about this: Your body, the vessel that is keeping all of your insides where they belong, is comprised of only about SIX elements off of the periodic table, and of those six elements, 65% of them become good ol' water.

You are probably wondering why I am boring you with a very basic lesson on the chemistry of the human body.

Well, considering the fact that your physical being is essentially just a fancy bone bag, I think it is safe to say that it is quite astounding that we have the ability to replace our livers every thirty-or-so days, fix our own broken bones via mitosis, and even create new humans.

But do you realize, that beyond the realms of the physiological skill set of the human body lies something so much more unique and powerful? Now, I am not saying that having the ability to repopulate the planet is not pretty much the most bad-ass thing ever, but here's the thing: Your body would be nothing but a hollow shell without your precious, precious soul. It is the very thing that gives life to your collection of skin and bones. More importantly, it is what makes you, you.

Your soul is the part of you that can love. Your soul is the part of you that experiences life. It is the part that is able to connect you to others on a level other than anatomical. It allows you to feel, to hurt, to yearn, to recover, to grow.

After all, your soul is the part of you that gives life to your body and gives light to the world. Even on the worst days, like the one's where you just want to cry in sweatpants, remember that you are you for a reason. Also remember that the curve balls that the universe seem to have aimed so perfectly at your face are simply ways to make yourself even more bad ass, they make the soul inside of you makes you resilient and unstoppable.

Keep in mind that you are so much more than a collection of molecules, you are a gift with a purpose.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
