In today's society, we grow up to believe that emotions are not okay. We are bred to believe that someone is less of a person if they suffer from anxiety, depression, or if they shed a tear every once in a while; but all of these things are okay and completely normal. It is okay to be different, because no person is perfect in this world. It is okay to cry or be upset because it helps us to grow from whatever things have happened throughout our lives, And it is okay to put yourself before others; if you aren't happy and proud of who you are, then how can you be yourself?

Know that it is okay to say no.

One thing that putting myself first has taught me, is that it is completely okay to take some time to relax. Saying no to commitments, especially while in college, is difficult for so many people. After saying yes over and over again for so many things, you become overwhelmed and don't know what to do anymore. Take a deep breath, remember who you are, and believe in who you are. You are so strong and worth every moment that comes your way, and sometimes those moments should be only about you.

Don't be afraid of your emotions.

I was always taught that it's not okay to cry, or that being upset would show my weaknesses, but it is the exact opposite. Be brave enough to cry and admit that something is bothering you. One of the most important things about growing and changing, is to acknowledge that you aren't okay every single day of your life. IT'S OKAY TO CRY. It's okay to be angry or upset or hateful when you are having a bad day. Just remember, any bad day can turn into a good day; just look for the sunshine over the mountain tops, and remember that there is always another reason to smile.

Leave the past behind you.

Once you begin to see how beautiful and wonderful you are, you will forget how you used to be. you will forget all of the times you were scared to leave your room because you were crying, or how afraid you were to be alone. You are wonderful in every single way. Don't let people scare you or tell you otherwise. Open up and let your friends see that side of you, and they will never let you down.

Keep holding on.

Every day brings on a new challenge, a new commitment, or a new experience. Sometimes good and sometimes bad, but always remember who you are, and you will never fail.

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.
