It's Okay To Let Go

Letting go is something that I have always struggled with. To me, I think that letting go is scary for so many people because the future is unpredictable and we have a massive fear of the unknown. If I let go, what will happen? If something bad comes from it, I struggle with guilt and will continuously beat myself up on how I made the wrong decision. But I feel like this feeling of not wanting to let go has gone on for too long.

Positive changes in life are so good and healthy for our well being. There comes a point where we need to take the step and decide if what we are letting go of will bring us joy or discomfort. Letting go of a toxic friend or friend group is something that is super tough to do. Walking away from a relationship is very scary especially when you have no one else to turn to. But I went through this exact situation. I was absolutely terrified to leave because I didn’t want to be alone, I didn’t want to have to do things without my best friend by my side. I didn’t know what the future would hold for me and I wanted to make sure I was making the best decision. I finally decided that it was time for me to let go and I can honestly say it was one of the best choices I have made.

I was so tired of being controlled and not being able to be myself. I wasn’t sure what it was going to take for me to let go but I felt as though God spoke to me during that time. I was so lost with what to do. I continually prayed to Him about what to do and I finally felt like I had received an answer when I saw a post on Facebook that read, “When God shows you it's time to let someone go and you refuse to, he will allow the person to hurt you to the point you have no choice but to let go.”

It felt so surreal when I came across this post because I felt like God put it there for me to see, and that was his way of showing me that my decision to let go was a great one. My suggestion for you is that if you are someone like me that is questioning whether or not to let go of someone or something, ask God for guidance. He will show you his answer in a magical way and he will give you a never ending peace.
